Fantastic venue for a short break.|We stayed in room 4 which was a comfortable large double with views over the village green. All staff were excellent throughout but the best aspect of our stay was the quality of the cooking. Best bit of roast pork belly we've ever eaten!

I had high expectations after reading the reviews and I was looking forward to the locally sourced ingredients. Service was slow and other customers who sat down after us were served before us. This happened at dinner and breakfast. My sirloin steak was overcooked and fatty, the chips weren't hand cut. The Scottish Breakfast was just okay as was the service. I expected a more professional level of customer service and shouldn't have to find someone to order/ chase up drinks etc. The room was clean but the toilet needs updating. It doesn't flush properly and there is an unpleasant smell when you open the bathroom door. I couldn't use the musty wardrobe so I had nowhere to hang my clothes. The terrace area looked neglected and needed a good clean. The garden area was beautiful due to the view, providing two seats is poor - even for limited seating.

Came here for Xmas Eve dinner, Turkey dinner was a little bland but 3 courses overall pretty good and excellent value. Nice selection of starters and puds. Couldn't fault the service.

Loved this hotel it was first class, the staff very friendly and helpful. The food was excellent. The bedroom was just right, even a top sheet on the bed. I would thoroughly recommend this hotel. There are lots more of places to visit and the roads are very quiet.
